Southern California in the Spring time is my favorite time of the year! The weather is perfect, and there are so many places to enjoy the beautiful blossoms. Below are some great places to take the whole family during the Spring.

  • Enchanted Railroad-Take a light-hearted look at Descanso Gardens from a 1/8th-scale replica of a diesel train. The Enchanted Railroad is a Descanso icon.

  • Gift Shop and Cafe on site

  • Gardens: Rose, Japanese, Camellias, Oak Forest, Ancient Forest, and more.

  • The Huntington Library had a stunning botanical garden. Bring your walking shoes and plenty of water, because this place is huge!

  • They also have a library and art museum

  • Encompassing about 130 acres, the botanical gardens feature living collections in 16 stunning themed gardens.

  • Children's Garden, Lily ponds, Jungle gardens, Chinese and Japanese Gardens, conservatory, and more.

  • 5 places available to eat. The Tea House is supposed to open this Spring 2023.

  • Butterfly Season is March 9-May 14th

  • Learn about pollinators, dress up like a butterfly, adopt a caterpillar, and so much hands-on fun!

  • Kidspace is a nonprofit museum designed to delight and engage children emotionally, intellectually, and physically through joyful, kid-driven experiences.

  • Currently all tickets must be purchased online

  • Features 50 acres of Ranunculus

  • Tractor wagon ride

  • Kids areas, including sweet pea maze, Santa's Playground, butterfly garden, mining for gems, and an illusion garden.

  • Snack available for purchase.

  • Bring hat, sunscreen, and umbrella on hot days, limited shade available.

  • Easter Eggstravaganza open daily, available through April 8th

  • Carnival type games, meet the Easter bunny, bounce houses, easter egg hunt, cookie decorating, face painting, and more! Buy a ticket pack and use tickets for each activity.

  • Don't miss the train ride! It takes you through most of the park.

  • Located at Irvine Regional park, a beautiful park with plenty of family fun available.

  • Also available at Irvine Park: OC zoo, bike and paddle boat rentals, pony rides, and beautiful trails for hiking or bike riding.

  • Entrance is free!

  • Beautiful wild flowers grow along the hiking trail in the Spring

  • Bring a picnic, there are plenty of picnic areas in the shady trees. Or buy food at Los Rios (they have a delicious BBQ)
