#1 Sea World Spooktacular and Howl-O-Scream

San Diego

  • Spooktacular: Kids love trick-or-treating during this daytime event as they explore a decorated trail and meet all sorts of colorful characters. And that’s just the beginning! From a Halloween dance party to a pumpkin scavenger hunt, and more. SeaWorld Spooktacular runs on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, Sept. 15 through Oct. 29 2023

  • Howl-O-Scream: Face your fears when Howl-O-Scream reawakens this fall at SeaWorld San Diego. Get ready for ALL-NEW spine-chilling scares on September 29, 2023. Featuring Haunted Houses, Scare zones, performances, and rides! This event is scarier and may not be suitable for small children.

#2 Vampirates Dinner Adventure

Buena Park

  • If you’ve been to Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, the popular pirate-themed dinner theater in Buena Park, CA, you’re in for a whole new swashbuckling Halloween themed treat this October! On select nights in September and October Pirate’s Dinner Adventure transforms into the Halloween Spooktacular, ‘Vampirates’!

  • Enjoy a four-course meal so delicious it’s scary, you’ll witness feats of aerial artistry, swordplay, death defying stunts and dynamic duels as Captain Sebastian Black’s dastardly crew of “Vampire Pirates” attempts to defeat the Vampire Hunter.

  • A spooky tale of good vs. evil filled with the perfect blend of intrigue, loyalty, betrayal, adventure, guest participation and razor-sharp teeth that are sure to leave you and your family howling for more! There will also be a costume contest every Saturday and Sunday for ghouls and goblins of all ages! However, all costumes must be family friendly, no masks and no weapons.

#3 Legoland Brick-or-Treat

Carlsbad

  • The Halloween event is better than ever! LEGO® Monsters are taking over the kids’ Halloween celebration at LEGOLAND® California Resort.

  • The Brick-or-Treat Monster Party transforms the Resort into a fun-filled Halloween escape with tons of candy, not-so-scary new shows, and silly monster LEGO characters. PLUS, all frighteningly fun festivities are included with general admission.

#4 Disneyland Oggie Boogie Bash

Anaheim

  • Tickets for this event are already sold out for 2023. Plan ahead next year! Tickets go on sale in June and usually sell out fast!

  • The spell’s been cast! On select nights September and October, Disney California Adventure Park will host a separately ticketed Halloween party with Oogie Boogie. This family-friendly event includes after-hours park access to treat trails, photo opportunities, entertainment, attractions, spooky fun decor and more.

  • Your ticket also lets you enjoy Disney California Adventure Park for up to 3 hours before Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party begins. Once the party starts at 6:00 PM, you’ll be treated to 5 hours of shindig shenanigans—including special Halloween-themed entertainment, attractions, Character sightings and more.

  • If you didn't get tickets in time, there is still so many festive things to see in the parks! From characters in costumes, to special Halloween foods, and fun decorations!

#5 Knotts Scary Farm

The fully transformed theme park features uniquely haunted mazes and attractions, sinister shows, and more than 1,000 horrifying creatures lurking in the fog and hiding in every corner of the park. These haunted attractions have the ingredients of a truly terrifying nightmare. But unlike most dreams, Knott’s Scary Farm is a nightmare you can’t wake up from -- which makes it the thing to do for Halloween. Knott’s Scary Farm is not recommended for children under 13. All guests, regardless of age, need to have their own paid admission ticket.

#8 The Legend of Sleepy Hollow- Riley's Farm

Oak Glen

  • Washington Irving’s timeless tale of harvest, romance, and good-natured fun lives on at Riley’s Farm with apple-bobbing, pie-eating contests, dancing, country music, and great food!

  • When you arrive, enjoy our homemade appetizer soup of corn chowder or pumpkin. Hop on the hayride and take a trip in the countryside with several of the Sleepy Hollow townsfolk. Watch the characters come alive on and off stage in this play in three acts. Throughout the evening, participate in a variety of classic country contests. But be forewarned, there is rumor of a Headless Horseman on the prowl, and it is said he will ride past the house by night!

  • Looking for some bone chilling fun? Well, Greenspot Farms has become well known for it's thrilling Haunted Hayride. The beautiful groomed farm becomes scattered with wicked monsters and screaming lost souls by night! The taunting old farmer is back with his twisted family for thirteen nights of horror to reclaim what is "THEIRS!"

#10 The Haunted Trail in Balboa Park

The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park is BACK, with two haunts in one; the 3,500 square foot eXperiment Maze and a mile long terrifying outdoor Trail through twisted pines and gnarled oaks.

The first gauntlet to survive is the 3,500 square foot eXperiment Maze; featuring Little Dead Rising Hood and all her fellow fairy tale freaks. Then it’s on to the mile long trail through the foggy Ghost- filled Graveyard, the Zombie Prisoner filled Ghoul Bus, Demented Doll Island, the possessed Room 666 in the Haunted Hotel, the crazed clown house, and the dark slime of the chainsaw filled southern swamp.
